National Apprenticeship Day 2025 logo

In celebration of National Apprenticeship Day on April 30, Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works! is proud to highlight six inspiring people who are building their careers through registered apprenticeships.

These apprentices work in a wide range of industries, from health care and behavioral health to skilled trades. Their stories show what is possible when passion meets opportunity. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and community support, they’re creating better futures for themselves and shaping the future of our workforce.

She has gained skills in Microsoft Office, scheduling, and medical coding, and is working toward her Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential with a clear plan and strong support system.

Ethan – Residential Electrical Apprentice

Ethan knew college wasn’t for him, and his apprenticeship gave him a different path forward. Under the mentorship of Mike, an experienced electrician, he’s building technical knowledge, developing leadership skills, and working toward becoming a master electrician.

Chrestina – Behavioral Health Apprentice

Chrestina entered the behavioral health field with no prior experience and used her apprenticeship to earn certifications, develop new skills, and pursue a future in psychology. Her growth mindset, combined with strong mentorship, has helped her thrive in a new field.
