Christine attended the Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) orientation in December 2024, expressing concern that she had not secured employment up to that point. She brought her resume to the orientation, where staff critiqued it. Christine was applying for Sales Account Manager positions, but her resume, which highlighted her experience as a sales director, was out of date due to her long employment history with her previous employer.
Encouraged to attend the Resume Workshop and The Art of Interviewing Workshop, Christine preferred and requested one-on-one assistance from Michigan Works! staff. Employment services staff set up an appointment to provide a mock interview along with resume assistance. Christine expressed her concern that her age was a factor in the lack of interest in her applications.
With a revamped resume that emphasized her strong sales background without drawing attention to her age, Christine felt more confident. She was also given interviewing techniques, including behavioral-based interview questions, which further boosted her confidence.
During her second RESEA Orientation in February 2025, Christine shared the exciting news that she had gained employment as a sales account manager with an automotive supplier.
