When Jeffrey came to Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works!, he was determined to expand his career opportunities and increase his earning potential. At the time, he was working part time as an Amazon delivery driver with no benefits and limited hours. Jeffrey knew he wanted more stability, so he set his sights on earning his CDL-A license.
The journey wasn’t easy. The first time he took the DOT driving exam, Jeffrey didn’t pass. But he stayed positive and persistent, returning to try again. With guidance from his Michigan Works! career planner and financial assistance to cover the cost of training, Jeffrey successfully earned his CDL-A certification.
Shortly after, Jeffrey was hired full time as a CDL-A truck driver with Supply Den, a local company. He now earns a full-time salary, works Monday through Friday with weekends off, and will receive full benefits.
“I was so happy to hear he got a full-time job with a company that he loves,” said his career planner. “He never gave up, and now he has the career he worked so hard for.”
