Laid off from his job, Steven was referred by the Unemployment Insurance Agency to participate in Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) with Michigan Works! Informed of the available activities to assist with obtaining new employment, Steven also met with a career planner for guidance. Deciding to enroll in truck driver training with a goal of adding to his skills in construction, Steven received 100% tuition assistance as a dislocated worker through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Steven completed short-term training with Dedicated Driving School and earned a CDL-A. Currently employed full-time as a carpenter, Steven advises, “Stick with it, work hard and stay focused. Times get tough, so it takes a tougher person to conquer tough times.”
