Michigan Reconnect provides free in-district tuition, mandatory fees, and contact hours for accepted and eligible applicants to pursue a Pell-eligible associate degree or skill certificate at any of Michigan’s public community colleges. If you’re 21 or older, and you’ve been thinking about going back to school to pursue your associate degree or a skills certificate, now might be the time.
The age expansion for 21 – 25 year olds is only available for a limited time. Apply by Dec. 31, 2024.
To be eligible, you must:
Be at least 21 years old when you apply
Have lived in Michigan for a year or more
Have a high school diploma or equivalent
Have not yet completed a college degree (associate or bachelor's)*
You’ll have up to four years from your first semester as a scholarship participant to complete an associate degree or Pell-eligible skill certificate, but the requirements to maintain the scholarship will change.
Every Tuesday from 12-2 p.m. and Thursday from 5-7 p.m. members of the Michigan Reconnect Navigator team will be online to provide one-on-one support to Michigan Reconnect Students to answer their individual questions about the program and even help with completing their FAFSA.
