Job Description

The Quality Technician will perform inspections and tests on incoming material, process and finished product to ensure that quality standards and process controls are met throughout the manufacturing/assembly process. Generate the appropriate documentation, records, and reports. Support quality, engineering, and manufacturing as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform first-off checks including
    • Perform torque verification checks
    • Verify production red rabbit checks and all error-proofing devices
    • Complete daily LPA
  • Complete hourly process checks
  • Complete suspect tags for all non-conforming & damaged material, move to cage & maintain a log
  • Communicate supplier & plant quality issues to the supplier quality engineer
  • Follow-up with any plant quality issues from Production, Engineering, Quality Auditors, or Liaison
  • Rood cause analysis
  • Enter scrap in T4M
  • Complete and post all Quality Alerts
  • All SPC Gauge/Fixtures/In process Fixtures design, PM, E/C, and data collection monitoring and reports
  • Monitor quality/engineering processes on the production floor
  • Interface with production at shift change daily
  • Clean Point management- Internal
  • Torque/Calibration Certification
  • Download, summarize, store, and publish daily & monthly torque certification data
  • Evaluate trend data at all process stations and operator-to-operator for overall repeatable performance
  • Perform- maintain gauge R R&R studies every 6 months
  • CAR Meetings- CChair Corrective Action Meeting through closeout
  • Bi-annual CONTROL PLAN “walks”
  • PPAP- Signing warrants will be done by Quality Manager
  • Review and verification of certification documentation, inspection and testing of parts for compliance to drawings and/or specifications, detailed documentation of results, generation of certificate of compliance, and proper maintenance of records
  • Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures
  • Train new Quality Techs as needed
  • Work with customer liaison to resolve plant quality issues
  • Provide replacement parts to customers when needed
  • Other duties, as assigned

 

Knowledge and Education:

  • Associates Degree in Engineering discipline preferred; or equivalent combination of education and work experience

 

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of mechanical inspection experience
  • Must be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings including GD&T
  • Proficient in the use of mechanical inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, go/no go gauges, and other mechanical inspection equipment. Experience with non-contact optical/laser measurement equipment is required
  • Visual inspection experience
  • Gather data for SPC monitoring. Ability to analyze results and identify our-of-control conditions, trends, and runs
  • Able to run controlling experiments under the direction of engineering/manufacturing
  • Able to discuss technical problems encountered with the manager, engineering, or purchasing staff
  • Ability to prioritize inspection workload
  • Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal). Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working as a TS16949 Quality System
  • Must have experience with MS Office platforms (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must have the ability and means to deliver parts to the customer

Physical Demands:

  • The normal amount of sitting
  • May be required to stand more than 6 hours
  • May be required to lift, push and/or pull 60 pounds
  • Average mobility to move around a manufacturing environment
  • Able to conduct a normal amount of work on a computer
  • May require local travel
