This position is in the Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP). The Public Health Nurse position within the MIHP is a home visiting public health nurse. The MIHP Nurse Home Visitor is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing services to women and their families eligible for the Maternal Infant Health Program. Nurse home visitors are responsible for maintaining the highest standards in clinical nursing practice and adherence to policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of MIHP and of the lead agency.
*Bachelor degreed nurses pay scale starts at $58,959.75

EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to a probationary period.
CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time position (37.5 hours per week). The starting time for this position is currently 8:30 a.m.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under direction, provides direct nursing services in a clinical, geographic or programmatic area; performs related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct nursing care in an assigned area, using appropriate authorized nursing skills.
Teaches, consults and acts as public health resource person to individuals, families, community groups and other health care professionals.
Documents appropriate data, activities and outcomes in the client records, utilizing the required recording format.
Works with clients to assess their needs, provide information or assistance and resolve problems.
Assists in coordinating the activities of an assigned clinic and/or program area.
Participates on selected agency committees as directed.
Participates in the orientation of staff.
Generates, evaluates and chooses the best alternative in order to make a determination, draw conclusions or solve a problem.
Performs other duties as assigned.
