Job Description

Staff Accountant

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Staff Accountant to join our thriving food processing manufacturing facility located in Chesterfield, MI. As a full-time member of our accounting department, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our financial records and supporting the overall financial operations of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills to effectively handle multiple tasks with great attention to detail.
  • Conduct bank statement and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Perform data entry and journal entries for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Manage the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculations.
  • Process monthly credit card statements, ensuring accurate verification of receipts and general ledger coding.
  • Provide backup support for various accounting and human resources functions, including credit management, accounts receivable, purchasing, and payroll.
  • Assist the Head Accountant/CPA with special projects as required.
  • Maintain and organize A/R and A/P documents, while also providing administrative assistance to the President and office staff.
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, and a willingness to learn new programs and tasks.
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks and adapt to changing work requirements.
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision or collaboratively as part of a positive and cohesive team.
  • Adherence to established procedures, rules, and policies.

Qualifications:

  • An associate degree or certification in accounting, or actively pursuing a degree in accounting.
  • Proven experience and success in using QuickBooks accounting software.
