EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Temporary
CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position is currently 8:30 a.m. The position is scheduled to work one evening shift per week until 6:30 p.m.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under direction, performs general and routine clerical duties according to established policies and procedures; performs various clerical support duties; performs related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives incoming telephone calls; provides assistance by answering questions and inquiries appropriate to skill level; relays messages to appropriate individuals or departments.
Conduct outgoing calls for homebound programs/SMART bus/disabled individuals within community.
Help pack and distribute package bags which consists of gloves/wipes/thermometers.
Act as supporting staff for pone day events within community.
Assist with various programs within the community.
Operates standard office equipment such as typewriters, personal computers, word processors, facsimile machines, copiers, calculators and adding machines.
**This position will be need to travel within the Macomb County area. A valid drivers license with insurance is required for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Possession of a high school diploma or a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test.

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment.
Knowledge of Word, Excel and Google products.
Knowledge of record keeping techniques and practices.
Ability to perform standardized calculations rapidly and accurately.
Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with laws and established departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions.
Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and an operable insured automobile.
Ability to effectively speak, write and understand the English language.
Ability to speak and understand a language other than English is preferred.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials,
Administrators, Department Heads, staff, union officials and the public.
Ability to conduct oneself with tact and courtesy.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office with frequent contact with customers.
Bends, stoops and reaches in order to file, search for and retrieve records and documents.
Manual dexterity and regular fine-finger and hand/wrist motions are required for
operating a keyboard, writing and filing.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
Lifts, moves and carries equipment and supplies that weigh up to 24 pounds.
