At the time she became a participant in the Partnership, Accountability, Training and Hope (PATH) program, Lauren was a single mom attending Chamberlain University. Working to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, her hours of training and study counted as the PATH activity leading to employment. To support Lauren in reaching her nursing goal, PATH provided a laptop to complete course work, assisted with an auto repair and auto insurance, provided required school and work uniforms, and payment for the nursing license exam. Successfully earning the BSN, Lauren accepted a job as an Emergency Department RN at $33.44 per hour. For this position, PATH will provide the employ- er with partial wage reimbursement during the 480 hours of on-the-job (OJT) training.
Lauren’s new employment provides an hourly wage increase of $17.91 per hour from her previous position as a CNA. Lauren’s advice in reaching goals is, “It takes a village, so accept all the help you can get. If you work the program properly, there’s so many benefits you can receive.”
