Conner joined the
Michigan Works! Young Professionals (YP) in March 2022. Twenty-two years old at
the time, he was un-employed and very interested in robotics. He actively
worked with the YP staff to complete enrollment and attended work readiness
skills workshops.
Approved for
training assistance, Conner began credential planning and researched several
schools. After careful consideration he decided that Macomb Community College’s
short-term Robot Technician certificate program would be the best fit. Combined
training funds from the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and the
Industry Infinity grant fully covered the tuition cost.
Once training began, Conner started to flourish and with one
month of training to go, he was hired as a controls engineer tech that would
start the day after his training concluded. Conner loves what he does and has
continued employment with Jr. Automations for over a year and is currently more
than $22 per hour.
